AP CM likely to meet PM Modi on Jan 12

New Delhi, Jan 07: The much-awaited talks on bifurcation-related issues between Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are likely to take place in New Delhi on January 12.

It is going to be the second time in more than a year that the two leaders will be meeting against the backdrop of a number of pending issues, notably the controversial Polavaram project, and the concerns raised by the TDP on the pace of the special financial assistance promised by the Centre.

The TDP MPs met Mr. Modi on Friday and appealed to him to deliver all that had been promised at bifurcation. It is hoped that the Chief Minister's interaction with the Prime Minister will dispel the misgivings between the alliance partners, besides laying renewed thrust on the implementation of the A.P. Reorganisation Act (APRA).

The delimitation of constituencies, for which there is a provision in the APRA, is expected to figure in the discussions, whose outcome is eagerly awaited.

The meeting assumes significance in the context of Mr. Modi's positive response to the request made by the TDP delegation to implement the APRA in letter and spirit, and resolve all pending issues.
