Telangana Govt distributes laptaps to TSWREIS students

Hyderabad, Dec 28: The Telangana Minister for Scheduled Caste Development, G Jagadish Reddy, on Wednesday, distributed laptops to 24 students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) who had secured admission into IITs, NITs and other prestigious institutions in the last academic year.

The Minister also announced a cash incentive of Rs 50,000 to students who joined IITs and Rs 40,000 to students of NITs and other prominent academic institutions.

"No poor student from Telangana should lag behind the financially sound students in pursuing their higher studies. Telangana government has launched new residential schools and degree colleges in a big way to impart quality education to students under the KG-PG mission," said Reddy, thanking Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for the initiative.

Telangana is the first State in the country to launch residential degree colleges for women and men, and provide a nutritious diet to students far better than many corporate institutions in the country, the Minister noted.

He also congratulated Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) Secretary Dr RS Praveen Kumar and teaching staff for striving hard to help a large number of students excel in national and State level entrance exams.
