Bandaru Dattatreya demands CM KCR to hold ISC at OU

Hyderabad, Dec 24: The BJP MP Bandaru Dattatreya has demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao take the initiatives to ensure that the 105th Indian Science Congress (ISC) is held as per schedule in the first week of January 2018 at Osmania University.

Addressing media here on Saturday, the former Union Minister said the postponement of the prestigious event will amount to the inefficiency of the government when the university is celebrating its centenary year.

He said it would be unfair to throw the blame on the students for the postponement of the event and to cite law and order problems in conducting such an event of national importance. Dattatreya wondered as to why the Chief Minister, who claims to be an activist of the Telangana movement, had been shying away from going to Osmania University campus.

He reminded the role played by the university during the statehood movement and said it would be appropriate on the part of the government to talk to the students and resolve their grievances.

He said the students are worried that the government will not fill the vacancies in the government jobs even after three and half years of the formation of the new State.

While there are 700 vacant posts in Osmania University alone, nearly 2,000 posts are vacant in all the universities in the State, he said.
