 Leaders pay tribute to  Economic reformer PV Narsimha Rao

Hyderabad Dec 23: The leaders of Telangana on Saturday have paid tributes to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on his 13th death anniversary.

Former Union Minister and BJP MP Bandaru Dattatreya, Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker S Madhusudanachary and others visited 'P V Gyan Bhoomi', the samadhi of the departed leader at Hussain Sagar lake here, and paid floral tributes.

The Telangana government organized an event on the occasion at the samadhi. BJP leader Dattatreya recalled the economic reforms initiated by Rao and Madhusudanachary called Rao a statesman the country should be proud of.

PV Narasimha Rao was Prime Minister from 1991 to 1996, passed away on December 23, 2004. He was the first Prime Minister of India who had undertaken several economic reforms which led to the massive development of the country in past 25 years.

He has abolished the Licence and Quota system which led to the reduction of the corruption in the system and many foreign companies have started investing in India. However, he couldn't continue in the power as the Congress party had lost elections in 1996.

MR Rao was born in Telangana and later he worked as United Andhra Pradesh chief minister and later went on to become Prime Minister.
