CM KCR express his happiness as kaleshwaram project gets clearances

Hyderabad Dec 23: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao expressed his happiness after the center had granted all clearances for the prestigious kaleshwaram project in the state. Sources said that A communication to this effect was received by him from the Centre.

CM has said "with Kaleshwaram project becoming a reality, Harita Telangana would not be a distant dream.The State had overcome all the hurdles to implement the project. As many as 190 cases were filed against the project right from the lower court to the Apex court."

Dr. S Kerketta, Director, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India wrote to the State government and said that " the Kaleshwaram project proposal was considered by the Expert Appraisal Committee for River Valley and Hydro-electrical Projects. It had recommended the project for grant of environmental clearance for the project."

"Accordingly, the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change hereby accords necessary environmental clearance as per the provisions of the environmental impact assessment notification, 2006 and its subsequent amendment in 2009" he added.

Experts said that project had got clearances in short span of time because of the various efforts put forth by CM KCR and Irrigation Minister Harish Rao as the government got a setback after NGT
had ordered to stop construction of the work didn't get clearances.
