Bandaru Dattatreya condemns attack on Sandhya Rani, demands Rs.10 lakh ex-gratia

Hyderabad, Dec 22: The Former Minister and BJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya has condemned the attack on Sandhya Rani who succumbed to her burn injuries on Thursday night after a jilted lover poured kerosene and set her on fire upon her refusal of his love proposal.

Citing that it is a law and order issue with people resorting to violence, Dattatreya said that the attacks and kidnaps are increasing in the state adding that the state government needs to take stringent action on the culprits.

Demanding Rs 10,00,000 ex-gratia to Sandhya Rani's family and a double bedroom house, he mentioned that Sandhya Rani's mother had requested for the culprit to be hanged publicly so that such acts won't be repeated in the future.

However, The Minister urged the government to appoint a committee for investigation and called upon the people of Hyderabad to protect women.

Meanwhile, Police have arrested the accused Karthik and the investigation is on.
