Bill to hike salaries of Judges of Supreme Court and High Court introduced

New Delhi Dec 22: In a move to increase the salaries of the Judges of High Court and Supreme court the Government had introduced a bill in Loksabha.The Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has introduced The High Court and Supreme Court Judges (Salaries and Conditions of Service) Amendment Bill, 2017.According to the bill

# The Chief Justice of India will get a monthly salary of Rs 2.80 lakh from the present Rs one lakh.

# Judges of the Supreme Court will get a monthly salary of Rs 2.50 lakh from the current Rs 90,000.

# The chief justice of High Courts will also get a salary of Rs 2.50 lakh from present Rs 90,000
# The judges of the high courts will get Rs 2.25 lakh per month from Rs 80,000 per month.
# The increased salaries would be effective from January 1, 2016
# House Rent Allowance would be increased 2.5 terms from the existing allowance from July 1, 2017.

The bill is expected to be taken up next week.
