Former High Court Judge C S Karnan released from jail

Kolkata Dec 20: Former Calcutta High Court judge C S Karnan has been released from jail after he has served a 6-month jail term awarded by the Supreme Court in May.

The apex court has awarded the former high court jail in the for contempt of court. Earlier the HC Judge has ordered the police to arrest the Supreme court judges.

Justice Karnanan has left the Presidency Correctional Home premises around 11.00 am. He was accompanied by his wife and elder son. He was arrested from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu on June 20 after he had evaded the police for over a month.

Karnan is the first sitting high court judge to have been sentenced to jail.
