AP Govt submitted estimated cost for Polavaram Project

Vijayawada, Dec 19: The Andhra Pradesh Govt has submitted revised cost estimates of the Polavaram irrigation project, amounting to Rs 58,319.06 crore (at 2013-14 price-level) to the Central Water Commission (CWC) in August 2017.

In a reply to Rajya Sabha member Dr. K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao on Monday, the Union Government said that the revised estimates were examined by the CWC and that the observations have been communicated to the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The approval of the revised cost estimates depends upon the satisfactory compliance of the observations.

Dr. K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao sought to know as to whether the Andhra Pradesh government sent proposals to the central government revising the estimates of Polavaram, as per rates prevailing in 2013-14, in August, 2017.

He also asked if the Government has approved the revised estimates and if so, the details thereof, if not, the reasons for the delay in approving the estimates.

In his reply to Dr. K.V.P. Rao, Minister of state for water resources, River development and Ganga rejuvenation and Parliamentary affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal said the GoAP submitted revised cost estimates of Polavaram amounting to be Rs 58,319.06 cr (at 2013-14 price level) to the CWC in August, 2017.
