3.5 tons of PDS rice seized in Nellore

Nellore, Dec 16: In a major crackdown, The Railway Protection Force have seized three-and-half tonnes of rice meant for public distribution in Tamil Nadu at Sullurpeta railway station in SPSR Nellore district on Saturday.

The details reported that, The rice was brought by people from Tamil Nadu in a suburban train (MEMU train) operating between Chennai and Nellore. They took to their heels and managed to escape before the RPF constables arrived.

The RPF team led by ASI Subbaiah seized as many as 90 gunny bags containing rice left behind by illegal transporters.

RPF officials informed about the seizure to the civil supply officials concerned in the neighboring state. The ASI said they would hand over the rice if TN officials approached them.
