Indian Railways to reduce the recruitment time to 6 months from 2 years

New Delhi Dec 17: In a Move to ensure the safety of the passengers the Indian Railways has decided to cutshort the recruitment time for various employees. Sources said that currently, it takes 2 years to complete the recruitment process in various railway zones.

General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway Chahatey Ram suggested that "The process of recruitment takes too long, taking almost two years since submission of application. Many candidates get alternative jobs, leading to the poor materialization of indents (vacancy notice). With online tests, etc, the process should be speeded up."

Earlier Railway Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani had conducted a review meeting with all the 17 zones general managers and urged them to fasten the process of recruitment of various posts and urged the Railway Recruitment Board to complete the process within 6 months.

Currently, Indian Railways is one of the largest employers in the world with a staff strength of more than 1.3 million and its employees take care of the country's 66,030 km of tracks, 10,773 locomotives, 63,046 coaches and 245,000 wagons.
