Hyderabad Metro rail to recruit 360 Police personnel

Hyderabad, Dec 2: The Hyderabad Metro Rail has planned to recruit 360 police personnel guarding it exclusively round-the-clock.

While about 310 of this personnel are from Hyderabad City Police, manning 15 Metro stations, the Rachakonda and Cyberabad Police Commissionerates have deployed around 50 personnel from their forces to look after nine of the stations.

All the 360 personnel were made to undergo a special one-week training programme focusing on how they would have to guard the world's largest public-private partnership project and one which is a high-security public installation. The personnel was also oriented towards performing their duties in liaison with the private security force.

Malkajgiri Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch R Umamaheswara Sarma said after consultations with HMRL, three teams comprising 24 personnel have been deployed for the security of Nagole, Uppal and Uppal Stadium Metro stations.

"The teams will work on shift basis. Each station has eight security personnel. Divided into two, four, would be working in the morning shift and the other team in the evening," he said, adding that a special woman constable was deployed as well for the safety of women passengers.
