Women farm workers migration at a Rapid pace-Niti Aayog

our country is primarily agrainanin society and nearly 50 % of the population engaged in the farming and allied activities.Currently, Youth migrates to various places in the world to earn their living because of a good education. However, there is a supply and demand gap that has been established in the industrial sector.

The gap has also crept into agriculture sector and many women agriculture labourers have left the agriculture and are confined to household chores.NITI Aayog report has published a report in this regard and stated that in previous government nearly 3.3 crore farm workers have left the field and have migrated to cities in search of better opportunities.Out of this 2.7 crore were female.

Currently, the pace of migration has increased because the agriculture has not become viable and many farmers are committing suicide. The farmers are not getting a due price at the market and the monsoon plays a spoilsport.

In order to curtail migration and ease the burden on cities the farmers must be taught of new scientific methods of agriculture such as the use of drip irrigation.better inputs must be provided such as seeds and fertilizers at a lower price.

However the migration is inevitable as there is a huge gap in supply and demand so care must be taken that migrant labourers must be provided skills so that they can lead a happy life eventhough they lefy agriculture.
