NIT Warangal 15th Convocation held , students sport in traditional attire

Warangal Nov 13: The 15th Convocation ceremony of the
National Insitute of Technology Warangal was held on Saturday and all the students have appeared in traditional attire to receive their Graduation/Post Graduation degrees.

The Campuses officials have proposed to get rid of British era attire where people would wear Convocation robes on the day and has introduced a new dress code of traditional dress sporting saffron scarf.Many students have attended the event by wearing white khurta and pyjama.

Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Adviser to Raksha Mantri and Director General, Missile and Strategic Systems was the chief guest at the convocation while addressing the students has stressed on the need to establish world-class institutes in India to excel the in the fields of science and technology.If we have at least 10 institutes below 100 ranks at international level, we can create wonders.

NIT director Prof NV Ramana Rao said that "they were improving the facilities for the students by constructing buildings with Rs 135 crore. He also added that they were working with the Human Resource Development Ministry in introducing the courses."

A total of 1,517 candidates have received their degrees at the convocation of them 53 are Ph.D. degrees, 624 M Tech and other Post Graduation degrees and 840 B Tech degrees.Aditya Kumar Somani of Chemical Engineering won the Institute's, Gold Medal.
