Modi extends condolence to Krishna Victims

New Delhi, November 13: The death toll in the Vijayawada boat accident has risen to 16 with several others still missing.

In this regard, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended his condolences to the deceased families.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister has said "Capsizing of a boat in the Krishna River is anguishing. My thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives in this tragedy. Andhra Pradesh Government and NDRFHQ have been working on rescue operations"



At least 17 tourists, including nine women and two children, were killed as the boat capsized in the Krishna river on Sunday. 15 people were rescued by local fishermen.

There were reportedly 41 tourists on the boat which was operated by a private tourism company and was returning from Bhavani Island to Pavitra Sangam. The boat overturned at Ibrahimpatnam Ferry Ghat.
