IPS Mahender Reddy took charge as Telangana DGP

Hyderabad, Nov 12: IPS officer Mahender Reddy took charge as the Telangana DGP here on Sunday.

DGP Anurag Sharma who is the first DGP of Telangana state has completed his term and was given a farewell at the State Police Academy on Sunday.

The farewell parade had Departments high officials and the new DGP Mahender Reddy in attendance. All the IPS officers along with 11 police wings bid farewell to the former DGP.

Addressing the parade, DGP Mahender Reddy appreciated Anurag Sharma for extending his valuable services to Telangana for a period of three and a half years.

Praising the former DGP's leadership qualities to head the department effectively with limited resources, he said that Anurag Sharma has been an inspiration to all the police and Telangana has achieved the No 1 position in the country in controlling crime rate even though the state is newly formed.

He also appreciated Anurag Sharma for giving freedom and a chance to innovate the state police.

On Telangana Police, Mahender Reddy said that law and order is successfully being maintained in the state and the police are providing security to women adding that he is proud to become the DGP of a such a well-organized department.
