KCR names Urdu second official language of the state

Hyderabad, November 11: In an important unifying move, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao Friday declared Urdu as the second official language in Telangana.

The announcement was made by the chief minister in Telangana assembly on Friday.

''I am declaring today, not considering districts as a unit but the state as a unit, in the entire Telangana state Urdu will be considered and practiced as the second official language. It has been a demand for a long time", he said.

They added the state government will appoint Urdu officers in all the offices over the next 60 days to receive petitions from the public and reply them in Urdu.

KCR further said that all the competitive examinations in the state will be conducted in Urdu too
