New Delhi, November 07: On the occasion of the first Anniversary of Demonetisation, Many of the opposition leaders have criticised the decision and called it as the worst decision ever.

Today morning, former President Manmohan Singh also criticised the Note Ban and GST regime. while Rahul Gandhi earlier called it as Gabbar Singh Tax.

In this regard, Finance minister came out in complete support of the move, calling it a watershed moment in the history of Indian economy.



"If you look back at all the steps we have taken in the last three-to-four years, besides demonetization, we have succeeded in bringing center-stage the whole issue of how financial transactions in India ought to be carried out," Jaitley said addressing the India Today Conclave Next here.

"The question before us was do we continue with the status quo ante of a high cash dominated society with all its aberrations," he said, adding that the situation was untenable for the fastest growing big economy that aspires to "sit at the high table with developed nation."
