AIADMK symbol case adjourned to November 8

New Delhi, Nov 6: The hearing in the AIADMK symbol case was adjourned to November 8 after lawyers for V.K.Sasikala and T.T.V.Dinakaran argued that the Commission could only decide on the symbol issue and not go into issues of an election of the General Secretary.

Appearing before the three-member panel, senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi submitted that only civil courts
can go into issues like changes in bye laws of a party and the Commission should confine itself to the symbol issue, advocate Rajasendhoor Pandian told reporters after the hearing.

Singhvi also said there could be no comparison between the Sadiq Ali case (in which the Commission had decided on the symbol issue) and the present AIADMK case.

K.P. Munuswamy, senior AIADMK leader belonging to the ruling faction, expressed confidence that their side would get the symbol of 'Two Leaves' after concluding their arguments on Wednesday.
