TRS Govt sanctions RS 80 cr  sanctioned for 2018 - Sammakka Saralamma tribal festival

Hyderabad Nov 6: Telangana Finance minister Etela Rajender on Monday has said that the state government has sanctioned Rs 80.55 crore for the successful conduct of the Sammakka Saralamma tribal festival between January and February 2018 at Medaram in Warangal district.

The Minister has added that "these funds would be utilised for providing proper amenities to pilgrims,". He made the above remarks while replying to a question on arrangements to be made for the festival during Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly winter session.



He added that "twenty departments would be coordinating for executing various works for the smooth conduct of the festival, which is regarded as the second largest religious gathering after the Maha Kumbh Mela.Over one crore pilgrims are expected to attend it from Telangana and surrounding States".

He has also said that more funds would be allocated if necessary and the TRS government has allocated over Rs.100 crore for the festivals conducted in 2016.

Sammaka Saralama is a 4-day Tribal festival that would be conducted in the forest located in the Medaram once in every two years.
