Centre nod to construct Regional Ring Road (RRR) project in Telangana

Hyderabad, Nov 5: In yet another favor for the Telangana govt's project, The Centre has given a principle nod to construct the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project.

The project envisaged by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to improve road connectivity all over the State envisages laying of 330 km of roads which are 80 meters wide. The massive infrastructure project is expected to cost around Rs 4,000 crore.

"Since many roads intersect with the National Highways, the Central Government has given us an in-principle agreement to take up the project," R&B Engineer-in-Chief P Ravinder Rao told media on Saturday. This would mean that the State would have no additional burden in creating the roads and they would be taken up by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Now, since the Central government has given its nod of approval towards taking up the project, the cost of land acquisition, one of the costliest aspects of laying new roads, would be borne by the Central government.
