Telangana Govt to form separate commissions for SC, ST

Hyderabad, Nov 3: The Telangana Government is making all efforts to constitute Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) Commissions in the state, Energy and SC Development Minister G Jagadish Reddy said.

Replying to questions from members of the house,
Mr. Reddy said that the state government has taken an initiative to create two separate commissions for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and referred the subject to Government of India for advice/remarks as per Article 338 (9) of Constitution of India.

Soon after the receipt of advice/remarks from the Centre, the state government would take necessary steps to constitute two separate Commissions for SCs and STs in the state.

While agreeing the members' suggestion that the Commissions has to play a vital role to resolve the problems of SCs and STs, Mr Reddy said that the state government was sincerely trying to form the Commissions and hoped it will come into reality soon.
