SC Orders central govt to setup special cases against corrupt MP,MLAs

New Delhi, Nov 1: In a move to expedite the pending cases against politicians the Supreme court has ordered the Central government to constitute special courts for speedy disposal of cases pending against MP, MLAs. The apex court has also asked Central government to share the details about the funds required for setting up such special courts for cases against MPs & MLAs.

The Supreme Court also directed the union government to share the details of 1,581 cases involving MPs and MLAs, as declared by politicians at the time of filing their nominations during the 2014 general elections.

However, the Central govt has told the court that we are not averse of setting up special courts to deal with the cases involving politicians so that decriminalization of politics can be done and the govt has also informed the court it was considering of disqualification of politicians convicted in criminal cases as recommended by election commission and law commission.
