Police suspended for allegedly harassing woman complainant

Karimnagar, Oct 31: A Police circle inspector was suspended for allegedly harassing a woman complainant at Mancherial district headquarters was today.

The Karimnagar Deputy inspector general C Ravi Varma took the action today following a complaint by the woman.

DIG Ravi Varma told media that the woman had approached the police station with a complaint against her husband.

The inspector, who obtained her mobile number on the pretext of 'counseling' her, started sending her objectionable messages and calling her, the DIG said.

After the woman brought this to the attention of higher police authorities, an inquiry was conducted and it was found that prima facie the inspector was harassing the woman, the DIG said.

The inspector was suspended and further inquiry is on, he said.
