IPS Officer nabbed for cheating in IAS officer examination

Chennai Oct 31: An Young IPS officer who was aiming to become IAS officer was caught after he was found cheating in UPSC mains examinations.He was caught using a Bluetooth device to get answers for the questions.

Police said that the Tamilnadu cadre IPS officer Karim has cleared UPSC this year and his wife, Joyce Joy was helping him to clear the examination.

They added that "his wife, a visiting faculty at an IAS coaching centre, was helping him from Hyderabad. He would send pictures of the question paper by WhatsApp to his wife in Hyderabad, and she would call him on the phone with the answers."



Police arrested him on Saturday after they received a tip-off from the Intelligence Bureau.(IB) and they have seized a mobile phone, a Bluetooth device, and wireless earplug speakers.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (Trainee) karim's wife Ms. Joy was detained by the police in Hyderabad on Monday. Along with her, a teacher of La Excellency Coaching Institute at Ashoknagar crossroads, Rambabu was also detained.

Police have said that "Cases under Section 420 (cheating) and 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy) have been registered against the duo. We have also invoked the provisions of the Information Technology Act".
