Class 9 Student killed during Swachh Bharat Mission in School

West Godavari, Oct 29: In a dreadful incident, a schoolboy died of a severe head injury as the branch of a tree fell on his head at Bhimavaram village of Akiveedu Mandal in West Godavari on Friday. In accordance with reports, The deceased identified as S Saichand, 14, a student of Class IX at Zilla Parishad High School at Bhimavaram went to school on Thursday as usual.

The authorities have started cleaning the school premises in the evening as part of Swachh Bharat Mission involving the students under the supervision of teachers. When the boy pulled a branch of the tree, it fell on his head causing severe injury. He was rushed to a private hospital at Akiveedu for medical treatment.

As his condition serious, he was shifted to the government hospital at Guntur. He slipped into coma and doctors declared him brain dead. He died on Friday evening. As his body was brought to the house at Bhimavaram village to perform last rites, school authorities arrived to pay their respects. The boy's parents accused them of failing to ensure safety in the school premises.
