Dineshwar Sharma to hold talk and restore peace in Jammu and Kashmir

The government has appointed former Director of Intelligence Bureau, Dineshwar Sharma, as its representative to initiate dialogue in Jammu and Kashmir, said the Home Minister.

Addressing the media, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said former IB Director Dineshwar Sharma will lead ‘sustained dialogue’ with all section of the society in Jammu and Kashmir. “As a representative of the Government of India, Dineshwar Sharma will try to understand legitimate aspirations of people in Jammu and Kashmir,” said Rajnath Singh. “The rank of former IB Director Dineshwar Sharma will be equivalent to that of a Cabinet Secretary,” he added.

“Dineshwar Sharma will be free to interact with all sections of society in Jammu and Kashmir, especially youth and understand their aspirations,” said Rajnath Singh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said, “Neither by bullet nor by abuses but by embracing the people we can solve the problems in Jammu and Kashmir.” The Prime Minister’s statement had clearly underlined our government’s policy and intention towards Jammu and Kashmir,” the Home Minister added.
