CPI leaders opposing the shifting of new Collectorate office

Khammam, Oct 21: The Khammam opposition Party leaders raised their ante against the government demanding to drop its proposal to construct an integrated Collectorate complex outside the city limits that likely to cause problems to people.

It may be noted here that Left Party leaders - CPI, CPI (M) and CPI-ML New Democracy (Rayala and Chandranna groups) –had been vigorously campaigning opposing the shifting of collectorate ever since the administration reportedly finalised a site near VV Palem village. Against this backdrop, the leaders on Friday organised a signature campaign near bus station.

The leaders said that by shifting the Collectorate to new site, the government is not only causing inconvenience to the people but also denting the exchequer hugely. "The move would help the realtors and has nothing to do with the people," leaders said.

"The existing Collectorate if clubbed with the adjacent zilla parishad and R&B offices would make nearly 29 acres," the leaders said, stating that it's good enough for the construction of integrated Collectorate complex.

While the people of the State have been immense problems, such moves would make no sense at all, they said, demanding the government to focus on issues faced by the people.

CPI district secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao, CPI (M) district secretary Ponnam Venkateswara Rao, New Democracy (Chandranna) district secretary Gokinepally Venkateswara Rao, New Democracy (Rayala) district secretary K Nageswara Rao and senior leaders Potu Prasad, Md Salaam, Sk Janimiya, Nunna Nageswara Rao, Rayala Chandrasekhar, Avula Vebkateswarlu and Jwalitha were among others present.
