RTI -A boon for Public

Of all the rights conferred upon the citizens of the country "The Right to Information" has unique importance.The all-pervading or penetrating power of RTI is beyond Comparision. Before this provision, the government Offices were like strong forts as far as disseminating information regarding any matter.The very employees in the office were afraid of bureaucracy though to much extent unions diluted the problem.

The October 12 of 2005 saw this right taking place, during the tenure of UPA government when Manmohan Singh was Prime Minister.The move was applauded by all social activists such as Aruna Roy, Jaya Prakash Narayan of AP. Even though 12 years have completed there is much in awaiting to make it really useful.

This right has become a thorn to bureaucrats, an impediment to the authority of political leaders as everything in the officialdom is becoming more and more transparent because of this.

The RTI act Sojourn of 12 years has seen so many violent incidents on activists, and even murders took place.The major success of this act is that after implementation, many scams such as crores of rupees of irregularities in tenders, execution of works, the illegality of certain government orders have been exposed and caused disadvantage to higher officials.

So many states were averse to implement this right; by appointing Information Commissioners as required.We saw in our Telugu States itself some members of Information commissioners were removed due to adverse reasons.

The Population of our country is not properly educated regarding this act.Though all the government offices are having someone as RTI officers they are bestowed with high powers, majority of people are not utilizing their right to solve their problems.

At the village level, people are not aware of this right much.To block information some tricks in fixing responsibility are also used by bureaucracy.So many irregularities in land records are coming out and thousands of rupees of public money is brought into its proper utilization, because of RTI activists.The government must take steps for the safety of activists, Whistle Blowers ,so that better result may come out.
