Petrol, Diesel under GST- govt agreed but says may take time

On Tuesday, Sudhir Mungantiwar, the finance minister of Maharashtra confirmed that states have agreed to include petrol and diesel under GST.

There is a constant pressure on government from public and opposing parties to lower the taxes and cut the fuel rates.

“All the states have given the permission to bring petrol and diesel under GST. But we have to wait for the right time,” said Mungantiwar.

“All states have their own problems. During the time of GST implementation, all the rights were entrusted to the GST Council,” he added.

But centre and State government is facing pressure to bring both fuels under GST as soon as possible.
