Not states business to decide what tourists eat & drink

New Delhi Oct 7: Taking a dig at state Governments efforts to ban Liquor and beef NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant has said that "it is not the state's business to decide what a tourist should eat and drink".

Speaking at India Economic Summit of the World Economic Forum he has said that "Indian states can't get into what a tourist want to eat and drink. Just not possible...what he wants to eat and drink is his individual business and not the states' business."

CEO has spoken the role of cleanliness and said that "I have been a long-term believer on a couple of things. Tourism is essentially civilizational in character, you can't have garbage and filth and say that we have great heritage sites. So, India must focus on cleanliness. It is number one. Number-2 it's about seamless experience".

Currently the states have already banned Gujarat, Bihar, Nagaland and Manipur and following states and union territories are planning Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Kerala and Daman

Finally, he said that tourist must be created facilities ands "In the evening he wants to relax and he wants to chill out and therefore you need to create that evening experience for (him) in terms of Indian culture."
