Election Comission ready for Simultaneous Elections

As largest democracy India is maintaining very respectable position.During the past 70 years of our democratic sojourn, it is not at all a mean achievement to be in the present position, taken whatever field into comparison or consideration.

At the time of Independence so poor and illiterate our majority of people were, it is a wonder at least we are getting on with elections though with certain hitches. In pursuance of excellence, our
election commission (EC) is trying to bring change in the election process.

From rubber stamp voting to Electronic Voting machines (EVM) they are successful. Now either due to leaders' initiative or with an eye on ease and betterment of voting process EC has come with a new idea.

The strenuous process may be advantageously maintained if parliamentary and assembly polls are simultaneously held. This is our PM Modi as well EC's latest idea .Of course, EC gave its efforts a trial and came out with a proposal. The Election Commissioner has already opined that they are ready to hold both elections countrywide (MPs, MLAs) within a year's time. They have the ability to use EVMs with voter-verifiable paper Audit trail (VVPAT).

The ball is now in the central government's court. The pros and cons ought to be weighed properly.Suppose due to any reason one state is compelled to go for polls midway of 5 years what has to be done? How about maintaining donation to political parties by corporates or bigwigs? The parliament standing commitee on personnel, public greivances, law and justice submitted a report couple of years back in this regard .whatever decision the government takes it must remove anomalies and streamline procedure.
