Yamuna river bank got highly polluted with trash

Yamuna river bank got highly polluted with trash after idol immersion. The river bank near ISBT is seen in a mess with loads of trash. There were more than hundreds of pandals in Delhi during Durga pooja who have immersed idols in Yamuna even after strict guidelines issued by NGT.

The river water got clogged with plastic bags, flower petals, pooja material and metal structures. The idols made of non-biodegradable material were banned in the year 2015 by National Green Tribunal.

Since there is no testing of material that are used for idol manufacturing, the use of non degradable material have increased.
