Ghaziabad police books bank chairman, son for fraud

Ghaziabad, Sep 23: Ghaziabad police on Saturday booked the Noida Commercial Cooperative Bank Chairman and his son in cases of forgery and cheating.

"The complainant Jitendra, a resident of Raheespur, lodged a complaint that Karan Pal Singh and his son Rahul Chaudhary, a realtor, had cheated him," police said.

Jitendra alleged that the father-son duo had opened a current account in his name at the Sashtri Nagar branch of the Noida Commercial Cooperative Bank and later converted it into an overdraft (OD) account, and withdrew Rs 80 lakh without his knowledge.

"The new OD account was opened in the name of Ratan Enclave in which I was named owner of the company," Jitendra alleged.

He said that the duo forged his signature to withdraw a hefty amount from his account.

"Being the chairman of the bank, no bank staff could muster the courage to raise any objection. He misused his official position and cheated at his will," the complainant further alleged.

The police have registered the complaint on the orders of the local Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court.

"On the directions of the court, we have lodged a complaint under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 406 of the IPC," police said.

In his complaint, Jitendra alleged that on April 1 this year he had met SSP Ghaziabad and lodged a complaint. He said he had apprised the SSP about how the father-son duo had committed fraud.

But, he said, the police did not take any action, forcing him to file a petition with the local CJM court that ordered the police to register the case and investigate.

"We are investigating the case after registering it," said SSP H.N. Singh.
