RS 4900 crore collected under PMGKY

New Delhi Sept 8: Income Tax Department has revealed some crucial information.Officials have said that

* Black money worth Rs. 4,900 crore was disclosed under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojna (PMGKY).

* Nearly 21,000 people have declared the income under the scheme.

* Rs. 2,451 crore tax has been collected from the declarations.

The income declaration scheme has been launched in December 2016 after demonetization was announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The scheme has enabled people with black money to come clean by paying tax and penalty of 50 per cent and the scheme was closed on March 31 this year.
