Toll Plazas to be abolished?

New Delhi Sept 7: A good news for customers may be unveiled soon.The Union Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi may take a crucial decision anytime soon.

Sources say that PM Modi may abolish the Toll Plazas present across the National Highways. The decision may be taken soon so that the customers can be relieved from paying extra burden while traveling on the roads.

Currently, many Toll plazas collect different toll rate at the plazas and it varies depending on the type of vehicles.The BJP In his manifesto has also promised to abolish toll plazas.

However, experts say that the government may not take such decision because Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on various occasions has said that "people must pay more for good quality roads, fuel and time would be saved if they have access to quality roads and people can pay the toll by Fast tags and e-payments".

They have also said that "Abolishing toll would reduce the income of the states and central government.and this would affect future expansion/construction of highways because private players and government prepare DPR based on the toll collected".

Finally, lets wait for some more time till a clarity is issued in this regard.
