Mumbai rape victim, allowed to terminate pregnancy by Supreme Court

A 13-year-old girl who survived rape got pregnant, the girls’ mother appealed to the apex court, to permit for pregnancy termination. The foetus was 31-week old.
Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act (MTP) makes it illegal to abort after 20 weeks of pregnancy. But Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra said "How can a 13 year old become a mother?".
Supreme Court allowed 13-year-old Mumbai rape survivor to terminate 31-week-old pregnancy.This procedure will take place at JJ Mumbai hospital on September 8.
Apart from this in the last hearing, apex court asked administration of Chandigarh to sanction RS 1 lakh to the victim and 1 lakh Rs to her mother as financial assistance
