Boy killed after roof fell on him

Visakhapatnam, Sept 5: Here a tragic incident has occurred while a 3 Yrs old boy died after a part of the concrete sunshade collapsed on him at the private play school where he was studying in Visalakshinagar here on Monday.

While coming to details, The deceased boy identified as Koda Gowtham(3), was the son of Koda Gopal Rao, armed reserve constable under Visakhapatnam rural police.

According to Police, the boy has admitted to the school about five months ago and on Monday his father dropped him at the school and left for duty as usual. The incident happened when the boy was passing under the sunshade on his way to the washroom.

The sunshade, constructed as an extension to a window, might have become weak following the recent rains and collapsed, said police officials. The boy was rushed to a private hospital with severe head injuries, where he died while undergoing treatment.

The boy's parents told media that the management did not inform them soon after the incident and there was a delay in treatment. As per the Arilova police SI, a case under IPC Section 304 (ii) has been booked against the school management.

Meanwhile, District Educational Officer Nagamani said the school was not recognized and action will be taken against the management. It is learned that she instructed officials to make a list of all such unrecognized schools in the district.
