Telangana declared Sept 5th as Govt holiday for Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Sept 3: The Telangana government has announced the Tuesday (September 5th) as a public holiday for government offices, schools and colleges due to Ganesh Immersion.

Incidentally, this holiday is only applicable for residents of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Medchal districts in view of a heavy rush on Ganesh immersion.

The state government further announced that September 9, that is second Saturday will be a working day as Tuesday has been declared a holiday.

Following the Ganesh festivities, the immersion of idols commenced at several lakes and designated ponds on Sunday.

As the countdown for the immersion of Ganesh idols in Hussainsagar and other lakes on the suburbs commenced, the city police appeared to be keen on restricting the maximum height of the idol to 12 feet from next year.

The move, police officials said, is aimed at resolving problems in shifting idols from the sheds put up by artisans for making idols and during the immersion processions as well.
