New Delhi, Sep 2: The Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday evening left for New Delhi for a four-day visit. Mr.Rao met with union Minister Arun Jaitley in the national capital here on Saturday. There was a discussion between the Defense Department lands and the GST issues.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has assured the Telangana government that the GST Council would discuss the issue of lowering tax structure on public projects as requested by the state.

"The Finance Minister also assured the CM that the GST Council would take up the issue of lowering tax slab on government projects in the next meeting," the statement said.

Telangana had earlier requested the Centre to transfer defense-owned Bison Polo ground in Secunderabad for the construction of new state secretariat. KCR sought that the Council would have a favorable view on the state's request on GST slab for the government projects such as 'Mission Bhagiratha', 'Mission Kakatiya' and other irrigation projects.

CM said that Jaitley had already reduced the GST from 18 to 12 per cent on construction works when the state government had earlier requested. The decision would be taken to reduce the rate of 5 per cent to 12 per cent soon as possible.
