Telangana Govt to setup Free Dialysis Centers

Hyderabad, Aug 28: The Telangana State has been planned to provide highly advanced free dialysis centers in all the 31 districts for kidney patients

Already, one such center was recently inaugurated at Siddipet while the rest of the dialysis centers are getting ready for inauguration in the coming months.

The free dialysis scheme of the State government has been designed in a hub and spoke model with Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) being the central agency that will oversee the functioning of the centers, which are coming up in districts.

The Telangana State Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSMS&IDC) had identified German company D Med to enter into an agreement for setting up close to 270 dialysis machines in all the 31 districts of the State.

The State government will incur an expenditure of Rs 1,375 for a single session of dialysis through the PPP model. Such advanced dialysis services are expensive at corporate hospitals, which charge anywhere between Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 for a single session of dialysis from patients.

Interestingly, this is for the first time the health authorities will launch highly advanced dialysis machines, specifically aimed at preventing the spread of infections among patients needing long term dialysis support for survival.
