Cabinet released funds for Telangana irrigation Projects

New Delhi, Aug 17: The Union Cabinet has approved extra-budgetary resources of Rs 9,020 crore for the long-term irrigation fund for 2018 (for 99 projects) for Telangana here on Wednesday.

As per a release, LTIF seeks to make loans from the NABARD attractive for states at the rate of 6 per cent per annum in order to complete 99 ongoing prioritized irrigation projects under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) which "were languishing mainly due to inadequate provision of funds".

Eleven Telangana projects Komaram Bheem, Golla Vagu, Ralla Vagu, Mathadi Vagu, Pedda Vagu (Neelvai project), Jagannadh project, Palem Vagu, SRSP second phase, Rajiv Bheema Lift Irrigation, Devadula project under priority scheme and Indiramma flood flow canal under the second priority scheme would benefit from the program.

The Telangana government had sought Rs 1,155 crore towards grant and Rs 2,825 crore as loan from NABARD for the projects.
