Railway Police seized 100Kgs of Ganja,3 arrested

Hyderabad, Aug 13: The Secunderabad Railway Police have arrested 3 persons and seized 100 kgs of ganja worth Rs. 15 lakh from them here on Saturday.

While coming to details, The accused identified as Bidyasagar Singh, 25, of Odisha and M. Babitha, 25, and M. Sunil Kumar, 20, both from Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh were caught at Secunderabad railway station.

Babitha and Sunil were engaged by Ganja smugglers to transport the contraband from Visakhapatnam to Sholapur, Secunderabad Railway DSP S. Rajendra Prasad said.

Babita's husband deserted her and since then she was looking out for a job. The holder of B.Ed. degree, she wanted to take up teacher job but ganja smugglers took advantage of her financial needs and engaged her to transport the narcotic substance clandestinely.

She and the other two accused were offered 5,000 each to carry ganja in train and hand over to specified persons in Sholapur. The smugglers would take pictures of them and send to their agents in Sholapur through mobile phones.

"The latter would identify them at the railway station using the photos, collect ganja, pay the promised sum along with return ticket and leave", Mr. Prasad explained.

The smugglers stuffed the dried ganja in packets each of 15 to 20 kg and put them in bags or suitcases.
