KTR urges about Musi river

Hyderabad, Aug 10: The Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development KT Rama Rao has stated on Wednesday that The government is trying to implement the special plans for the development and beautification of Musi river and different works for the purpose will be taken up at a cost of Rs 1,665 crore.

At a meeting with municipal authorities and officials of Musi Riverfront Development Corporation here on Wednesday, Rao said that the government is planning to develop Musi river on the lines of Sabarmati river.

The works are to be taken up in two packages, with Rs 956 crore earmarked for the first package and Rs 709 crore earmarked for the second package. While Rs 500 crore would be from the budget, the rest would be raised with the help of banks and financial institutions.

Officials informed the Minister that the government has accorded administrative sanction for the funds and a government order was issued for the purpose.

As the orders for the funds were issued, Rao directed officials to expedite the works. Municipal Administration Secretary Naveen Mittal and other officials were present.
