Vice Presidential Election polling begun

New Delhi, Aug 05: The vice presidential election polling has begun shortly before at 10 am here on Saturday. The Members of both Houses of Parliament will vote in the polling from 10 am to 5 pm.

Parliamentarians are using special pens to mark their candidate's name. The Election Commission officials said that the counting of votes will be announced after 7 Am from the end of the polling.

Former Union Minister and former BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu as the NDA candidate and former West Bengal governor Gopalakrishna Gandhi from opposition parties are contesting the elections.

The NDA will have a good enough number and has confident of winning their candidate.

A clear majority for the NDA candidate is that the total number of MPs in the Parliament is 790 while two MPs in the Lok Sabha and one MP in the Rajya Sabha are vacant.

BJP Lok Sabha MP Ch.Paswan can not participate in the voting due to the court verdict. More than 50% of valid votes are declared as winners.

* NDA strength in the 545-member Lok Sabha is 335 (BJP MPs 281). The strength of the alliance in the 243-member Rajya Sabha is 75 (BJP MPs 56).

* NDA is supported by 60 MPs from AIADMK, TRS, and YSRCP.

The NDA on Friday conducted a model voting camp with no intention of misinterpreting the polls during the polls despite the numerical strength required by its vice presidential candidate.
