Loksabha Passes IIM Bill

New Delhi July 28: A key bill was passed by Loksabha today.
The Indian Institutes of Management Bill, 2017 was discussed.
* The main Aim of the bill is to grant Autonomy to IIM in the country.
* Another key aspect of the bill is that these institutes can now grant degrees.
* The Board of Governors would appoint the director of the Institute.
* The management Institutes would be declared as institutions of national importance.
* A coordination forum of All 20 IIM would be setup.
Union Minister Prakash Javedkar replied to the debate and said that the IIMS would raise their quality to global standards when they are given Autonomy so that more number of students study management courses in the country.
