Telangana Doctors urges to help AP Aarogyasri Patients

Hyderabad, July 28: The Telangana Senior cardiologists from Cardiology Society of India (CSI) have been urged the Andhra Pradesh State government to take out its decision to bar patients covered under NTR Aarogyasri from seeking cardiac care in Hyderabad here on Thursday.

Comming to the matter, The CSI members, while interacting with media persons here on Thursday, said that needy patients from AP were unable to access world class medical facilities that were available in Hyderabad.

"The priority of the government should be to facilitate and ensure the best possible care to patients for the money it is spending through medical reimbursement under NTR Aarogyasri Scheme rather than restricting referrals to hospitals located in Hyderabad," said Sridhar Kasturi, president of CSI, Telangana State.

Before the decision to stop cardiac care in Hyderabad, according to CSI, 70 per cent of heart ailment patients used to come to Hyderabad for treatment. There have been instances wherein the patients were not aware of this rule and often faced difficulties in mobilizing funds.

The doctors said that authorities in AP on humanitarian grounds must repeal the decision and allow patients to get cardiac facilities in Hyderabad. Other senior members of CSI, Dr Sarat Chandra, Dr Sridhar Reddy Peddi and Dr Vijay Kumar Reddy were present.
