Uttam Kumar demands CM KCR should apologize to Dalits

Hyderabad, July 28: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded that the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should apologize to Dalit people over Nerella (in Sircilla) incident here on Thursday.

The State Government should order an inquiry by a sitting High Court judge and suspend the police officials who tortured the innocents.

In the siricilla incident, some Dalits and BCs were beaten black and blue by the police for questioning the sand mafia.

While speaking to media persons here on Thursday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that sand quarrying was being carried out by close relatives of the Chief Minister and hundreds of lorries plying sand posed a threat to the people living in the area.

One person was killed by a speeding lorry and when the people protested, the police illegally detained them. They were allegedly badly beaten up and threatened by the police.

"The victims are unable to recover from the injuries inflicted by the police. Their organs are badly damaged. This is cruel," Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy said.

The Dalits and BCs were cheated by the TRS party and after assuming power, attacks on Dalits were on the rise, he added.

With a slogan 'Chalo Sircilla' the Congress party will organize a massive public meeting on July 31 at Sircilla town. Lok Sabha former Speaker Meira Kumar will attend as a chief guest.

City Congress president Katla Srinivasa Rao, senior leader Rajanala Srinivas, E.V. Srinivas and others were present.
