NREGS workers Accounts to be linked with Aadhar

New Delhi July 26: The Government will soon take another step to save public money. Sources say that the Union Government will link Bank accounts of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) workers with Aadhar so that the leakages can be prevented and funds
can be properly utilized.

Rural development ministry and department of financial services will organize camps in villages to educate the workers to give consent for seeding their bank accounts to their Aadhaar numbers so that money can be directly transferred to their accounts.

Sources say that the government has tied up with Indian Banks Association along with 13 private sector banks for completing the above task.

Experts say that the government wants to complete the linkage by September, currently, 50 % of workers have already linked their accounts.

Let's hope that government would complete the linkage in stipulated time so that workers would be benefitted and bogus beneficiaries are eliminated.
