Man arrested for circulating fake Rs.2000 notes

Vishakapatnam, July 15: The Vishakapatnam task force Police arrested one person and seized fake currency notes worth Rs 4.08 lakh (Rs 2,000 denomination) from him at the railway station here on Friday.

While coming to details, The accused was identified as Mohammed Sayyed Ali, who was an old convict and habitual chain snatcher. Ali was involved in six cases of chain snatchings from 2003 to 2014, in and around Saidabad police station under Ranga Reddy district of Telangana.

He was also accused in abetment of a murder case in which a former Maoist Kondapuri Ramalu was killed under Chaitanyapuri police station under Cyberabad.

While under judicial remand in Chanchalguda jail, Ali met Khaimool of Malda district of West Bengal, who was serving a prison sentence for circulating counterfeit notes. After he was released on bail, Ali went to Kolkata and met Khaimool, who was also out on bail.

He collected an amount of Rs 4.08 lakh from Khaimool on 50:50 basis and arrived in the city on Friday, in a bid to push them in the market. On a tip off, the task force police nabbed him, the joint commissioner D Nagendra Kumar added.
